Ringneck Parakeet
Origin: Belgium

Latin Name: Psittacula krameri

Habitat: Lightly timbered woodland and open countryside.

Diet: Buds, fruit, berries and seeds.

Lifespan: 25 years

Average Size: Weight: 80 grams, Height: 40cm

Characteristics:

Ringnecks come in a variety of colours from bright yellow to albinos.  They tend to travel in search of food in large flocks.  Male ringnecks have a distinctive band of colour around their neck and sport deep red beaks.  Females lack the facial and collar band around the neck.
