Shetland ponies are hardy and strong due to the harsh conditions of the Shetland Isles. The Shetland pony has a small head, distinct face, widely spaced eyes, small and alert ears. They have long tails and manes and dense double winter coats. They come in almost every colour but are mainly bay, chestnut or grey. They are generally gentle, good tempered and very intelligent by nature working them and are an ideal children’s riding pony.
